Elevated Blood Sugar, Weight Gain, Fatty Liver, Metabolic Syndrome, Pre-Diabetes, Diabetes Type 2

Are any of the issues listed above relevant to you?

Did you know that you can decrease how high your blood sugar will rise after a meal by eating a good portion of vegetables and protein before eating any of the starches or grains on your plate?

I am here to help guide you and give you support along your way to optimal health. Together we will form a plan that works for your life, and it will become what you do naturally. It will not be a diet.

Most of us want to be healthier, but are not sure how to do that, or we know how, but find it impossible to sustain dietary and lifestyle changes that we have tried in the past. There is so much information out there about what we should or should not eat. The abundance of information can feel overwhelming and it can be confusing.

Many of us have been watching our fasting blood sugar, and/or our hemoglobin A1c levels creep up over the years. Many of us are dealing with weight-creep. Maybe your health care provider has mentioned that you are now pre-diabetic, or you have a new diabetes type 2 diagnosis. For some, your liver enzymes are high, and you have no idea why. Many more have elevated cholesterol or triglyceride levels. Some of us have all of the above. None of it is your fault. It has nothing to do with willpower, or with character. There may be some genetic predisposition, but genetics are not necessarily destiny.

Our modern diet is the new tobacco; addictive foods that by design trigger cravings rooted in our biological drive to survive are the primary cause of metabolic disruptions and diseases like the ones listed above.

All of the conditions listed above are preventable and even reversible for almost all of us.

Experience

I practiced medicine as a primary care physician assistant for more than twenty years. The most gratifying aspect of my medical practice was helping clients to achieve better health through nutrition and lifestyle modifications. So much so, that I now practice solely as a nutrition and lifestyle wellness consultant.

I have helped clients with many metabolic issues including those with lipid and blood sugar issues. I have seen clients improve their cholesterol levels, liver function, blood sugar levels, and hemoglobin A1C levels.

Working together with you and your health care provider, it may be possible to decrease, or even eventually eliminate, the need for medication for some of these issues.

See my Services page for more information about what I do, and how I can help you to improve your metabolic health.
